2 More Videos To Help Increase Your Bench Press

Ok so today I have two more videos for you that hopefully will help increase your bench press.

The first video I have goes over how to increase your arch.

I got a ton of questions on this topic so I thought I’d throw together some tips to help those of you who are struggling with this part of the bench press set up.

And here is the second video.

It should help any of you who are haven’t quite figured out how to engage the lats while bench pressing.

Enjoy…

Oh and if you missed the question and answer call the other night you’re in luck.

I recorded the whole thing and you can listen below.

great idea , thanks for sharing , especially bench grip tip .

Curt

What is the best warm up sets x reps ? I got the 50lbs increments you mentioned but how many reps as you get close to your max? Trying to get the perfect pump but avoid loosing energy. Sometimes I can’t get that feel other times I can which sets me up for single max..doesn’t seem to be a consistent approach. Just wondering how many reps you use as you close in on the max weight.

Thanks!

Excellent teleconference yesterday thank you!

Hi I have all the Iron woody bands but not sure how to use them or set them up properly..

I like you 2nd video on where you show how to use the band to make you remember to squeeze the bar. will try this nextt bench workout session..

I have a problem in arching my back cant get it so arched.. watch my bench press video in th URL.. I weight under 70kg.. I know its half a rep..

Robert

Thanks especially for the second tip to squeeze the bar – it’s really clever.

Stephen

Great Stuff!
I’ve used some of these tips for years (old school) and know I’ll benefit from the new ones.
Thanks.

Great video Aj, very helpful tips. Would love to see some cool shit on the squat/boxsquat and deadlift.

Ted

Rubberbands demonstrate great activating lats. Now I know why it is important to “bend” the bar. Thanks.

toby

great stuff aj, will try these different tips.

Would love to see some videos on deadlifts and squats and the different variations like RDL’s and zercher squats

John Roberts

thanks for the videos. they’ve helped alot . I did have trouble getting set up with the arch. the pvc pipe really helped. thanks

Steele

Great data!!! I try to demonstrate or walk through drills or instructions so all can see, “cause we all have seen the “head shakes yes…and the eyes say which way did he go George?”

Steve

Thanks for the tips. Whenever I heard somebody say squeeze the bar, I always thought they meant: squeeze harder with your hands and pull together with both hands. I didn’t consider pulling out as a possibilty. Perhaps because I am new to the “lifting world”.

Travis

Great video! Tons of great stuff. The rubber band idea was clever. I have problems feeling the bench press in my chest, but I think these tips will help out a lot.

Great Tips Dude after watching your tips and Dave Tates tips my bench is getting better and better thanks very much for your help, and online conferrence last week, thanks again

Ben

I really need to start pulling the bar apart. That is a portion of the bench that I forget to do alot of the time.

roberto

These techniques look pretty interesting I’ll be sure to give them a go to see how they feel. Are you also making other videos showing how to position the feet? I tried a few different feet positions a can’t seem to get it right. Each time my hips either rise off the bench or I don’t or can’t feel any power resulting from driving my heels into the ground.

Mike

Great videos I hope that you will show some of the workouts that you do

Thanks it is great stuff. Only few people would go in to this depth.
Love to see other videos as detailed as this for dead lifts, squats, lunches etc.
Only recommendation is to do the full movement with weights for 1-2 minute summarizing all the major points so what we could visualize the full technique with all the correct moves

Great tips dude, unfortunately spoiled by interupted streaming. I hope it is only me but the 30 bench press tips vid was the same. Keep on cranking them out you have pearls to share brother.

Hi AJ.
Any thoughts about using a log bar instead of a barbell. That way the hands are placed perpendicular to the bar and supposedly it’s exerts less stress on the shoulders

Brian S

The PVC pipe and the stretching shown in these videos have become a major part of my bench training warmup over the last 8 months, and have produced amazing gains in my arch as well as helping to increase my bench tremendously. The bigger arch helps to keep my up on my traps and keeps me planted better for more drive. The bands work wonders as well for engaging the lats and focusing on stretching the bar. Foll his examples for great gains. They definitly work!
